The Aubrey Fund for Pediatric Cancer Research

Named for Fred’s Team runner and pediatric cancer survivor Aubrey Adam Barr, the Aubrey Fund has directed more than $41.8 million to MSK Kids, the pediatric program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), since 1997. Fred’s Team participants choose to raise money for the Aubrey Fund every year.

Making an impact with every stride

The Aubrey Fund is an important resource for MSK doctors and scientists tackling the most pressing challenges in pediatric cancer, helping bring hope for new and better treatments to families worldwide.

Aubrey’s story

When Aubrey was just 4 years old, she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and given a prognosis of six months to live.
Thanks to the innovative treatment protocol she underwent at MSK Kids, Aubrey survived and continues to thrive today. In the decades since her treatment, Aubrey has become an accomplished runner and has been part of Fred’s Team for 30 years. She and her family established the Aubrey Fund to give back to MSK in recognition of the lifesaving care Aubrey received.

What running means to Aubrey

Aubrey has run more than 40 marathons worldwide with Fred’s Team. For Aubrey, running is a reminder of the health she’s grateful to have today and a way to give back to MSK. Watch her share her story.

The impact of the Aubrey Fund

We’re so grateful to Aubrey, her family, her parents Bruce and Parry Adam, and every person who has run with Fred’s Team and supported the Aubrey Fund. Your commitment and generosity have inspired countless others to add meaning to their miles, paving the way for a brighter future for kids and families all over the world.

Fueling new discoveries

When Aubrey came to MSK Kids in 1971, her chance of survival was less than 10%. Today, thanks to incredible innovations — many of which were made at MSK Kids with support from the Aubrey Fund — survival rates have increased to over 85%.

Support from the Aubrey Fund helped establish MSK’s Tow Center for Developmental Oncology, which is focused on research and treatment development for cancer in children and young adults.
